We at Kerry Volunteer Centre are delighted to announce that Volunteer Ireland and affiliated centres have partnered with LinkedIn to make skilled volunteering roles on I-VOL, the national database for volunteering opportunities and listings, easily accessible to over 1.2 million LinkedIn members in Ireland.
On February 13th LinkedIn announced the launch of The Volunteer Marketplace in Ireland. LinkedIn’s Volunteer Marketplace enables Irish professionals who are willing to donate their time and skills to indicate their interest in volunteering and board service on their LinkedIn profiles, and to search for skilled volunteering opportunities online.
The Volunteer Marketplace is open for any organisation to post a volunteering opportunity for a fee. The great news is that all skilled volunteering roles registered with Kerry Volunteer Centre will now be posted on LinkedIn for FREE.
How your non-profit / charity can post a skilled volunteer opportunity on LinkedIn for FREE:
• Register free of charge with Kerry Volunteer Centre online or contact our Placement Officer, Linda on 066 7117966 or email linda@volunteerkerry.ie to register. Information required:
– Organisations name
– Organisations address, phone number and website (if relevant)
– Contact person’s name, email, phone number, role title
– Cause, type and aim of organisation.
• Advertise your volunteer opportunity online with Kerry Volunteer Centre for FREE by registering online using your Unique Key (which is generated automatically once registered) or contact our Placement Officer, Linda who can register it for you. Information required:
– Unique Key (automatically generated when you register with Kerry Volunteer Centre)
– Organisations name
– Contact person’s name, phone and email
– Volunteer opportunity role title and tasks
– Number of volunteers and hours required
– Select activity that reflects the opportunity and skills needed
– Minimum commitment and age restrictions for volunteer opportunity
– Place of volunteering

This partnership is fantastic opportunity for individuals, non-profits and companies alike. It opens communication lines between potential skilled volunteers and non-profits organisations as well as showcase LinkedIn member’s volunteer activities to potential employers. A survey carried out by LinkedIn showed that 82% of LinkedIn users said they would be interested in skilled volunteering. Also, a survey carried out with professionals showed that 40% stated that when they are evaluating candidates, they consider volunteer work equally as valuable as paid work experience.
This will not change how volunteers apply for volunteer roles, or how organisations post opportunities on I-VOL – but now, in addition to reaching I-VOL users and registered volunteers, organisations skilled volunteering opportunities will reach thousands of skilled professionals on LinkedIn.
