Breaking news regarding Garda Vetting

Kerry Volunteer Centre wishes to advise that offical confirmation has just been received from the Department of Justice and Equality that commencement orders for the National Vetting Bureau (Children and Vulnerable Persons) Acts 2012 to 2016 have been signed and that The Act will commence tomorrow on the 29th April 2016.

Many community and voluntary groups along with businesses in Kerry will now find themselves obliged to Garda Vet their volunteers and employees with the commencement of the National Vetting Bureau Act on Friday 29th April. Going forward all relevant organisations may not employ or engage a person to carry out work with children or vulnerable adults unless that person has received a vetting disclosure.

Kerry Volunteer Centre acts as the registered vetting organisations for the National Vetting Bureau in Kerry for organisations who would otherwise be unable to access vetting. If your organisation is impacted or if you are unsure as to whether or not it will be then it will be worthwhile for you to attend one of their upcoming information seminars on the National Vetting Bureau Act 2012 -2016 being organised for 11am to 1pm Tuesday 17th of May in Killarney and in Dingle 11am to 1pm on Thursday 19th May in conjunction with Údarás na Gaeltachta. These seminars are part of Kerry Volunteer Centre’s National Volunteering Week 2016 schedule of events.

For additional deatails on the National Vetting Bureau Act 2012 -2016 information seminars and to make a booking contact Kerry Volunteer Centre by calling 066 7117966 or by email Carmel on carmel@volunteerkerry.ie
