As 2014 draws to a close we would like to wish you the Merriest of Christmases and thank you for supporting volunteering in Kerry. It has been an eventful and prosperous year for Kerry Volunteer Centre and volunteering in Kerry. There are possibly too many highlights to capture at once, ranging from the recent unveiling of the Volunteering Matters newsletter for Kerry, to National Volunteering Week events in May, to winning of 2 Volunteer Ireland Awards, the launch of our new website for Volunteering in Kerry, the hosting of expert led training sessions on the Charities Act/ Public Participation Networks/Volunteer Management, to the delivery of presentations and outreach events throughout Kerry.
Yet, amongst all these 2014 positive, pioneering successes and initiatives that which is most reassuring was the ever increasing number of individuals, of all ages and stages, signing up to volunteer in 2014, each with an identifiable willingness to serve their local communities and make a difference. Kerry can be very proud that its volunteering spirit is thriving. Equally reassuring is the insatiable appetite for knowledge and capacity building shown by Kerry’s community and voluntary groups in 2014, which we in Kerry Volunteer Centre were delighted to satisfy throughout the year.
Kerry businesses and local media have been exceedingly supportive of Kerry Volunteer Centre’s 2014 initiatives to value volunteers and promote volunteering. We are indebted to the kind sponsorship and are sincerely appreciative of the generosity of Randles Hotel Killarney, Hugh Culloty’s Experts, Gerbola Circus, Marks & Spencers, Walsh Brothers Shoes, Nailz by Marua, Killarney Credit Union, Tralee Bay Wetlands, Lake Side Cafe, O’Callaghan Coach Holiday, Spa Seafoods and CH Chemists. The generosity of local businesses and the backing of local print, digital and radio media partners was critical to our 2014 efforts in highlighting and celebrating the fantastic work being done by volunteers throughout our county.
The Directors and staff at Kerry Volunteer Centre would like to thank you the volunteers, organisations, businesses and local media partners that worked with us over the year. As always, it has been an absolute pleasure to support and work for the advancement of Volunteering in Kerry. We are continually amazed and motivated by the outstanding contribution of Kerry volunteers and organisations. Our offices in Tralee and Kenmare will be closed on Friday 19th December and will reopen on Tuesday 6th January. We wish you and yours a very Merry Christmas and looking forward to working with you to achieve an equally eventful and prosperous 2015.
