Having an Annual General Meeting (AGM) for the first time? Cannot remember what steps to follow at an AGM?
Here are some points to take into account:
- Find and read carefully your organisation's governing document, i.e the company's constitution, or its terms of reference or if your a company limited by guarantee your Memorandum of Understanding and Articles of Association
- The governing document sets out how and when the AGM needs to be held, who can attend, how the meeting will proceed, what items make the agenda, how directors are elected, the officers that need to be appointed etc.
- Follow the procedures as set out in your governing document otherwise your AGM will not be valid
- If you have any questions regarding the role of the Directors do refer to the Company's Registration Office, www.cro.ie
If you do not have a governing document it really is in your best interests to develop one asap, for advice and direction on how to develop one feel free to contact Geraldine at Kerry Volunteer Centre on 066 7117966 or by email firstname.lastname@example.org.
