Three inspiring volunteers, Micheál O’Sullivan, Louise Quill and Majella Forde, proudly represented Kerry nationally last night at the Volunteer Ireland Awards 2014 in Dublin. Kerry Volunteer Centre would like to congratulate all three for their outstanding contribution to local and overseas volunteering. On the night both Micheál O’Sullivan and Majella Forde received a Volunteer Ireland Award and were honoured for their fantastic Volunteering work, with Ard Cúram Day Care Centre and the Red Cross.

Kerry Volunteer Centre is thrilled to announce that 3 Kerry Volunteers are amongst 30 shortlisted for the Volunteer Ireland Awards 2014. Majella Forde, Micheál O’Sullivan and Louise Quill, volunteers with Irish Red Cross, Ard Cúram Day Care Centre and Tir Na nOg Orphanage (respectively) have been shortlisted for the Volunteer Ireland Awards 2014.Over 500 nominations were received for this year’s Awards ceremony, Ireland’s biggest Awards campaign for volunteers.

International Volunteer Managers Day, Wednesday 5th November, now in its 15th year is an apt time to reflect on how Community and Voluntary organisations value and invest in volunteer management. The role of the Volunteer Manager is an essential one as it is she/he that coordinates and drives the volunteer management programme and provides ongoing support to volunteers. In the absence of an appointed, resourced and supported Volunteer Manager an organisation’s involvement, management and retention of Volunteers is adrift.
