Kerry Volunteer Centre wishes to advise that offical confirmation has just been received from the Department of Justice and Equality that commencement orders for the National Vetting Bureau (Children and Vulnerable Persons) Acts 2012 to 2016 have been signed and that The Act will commence tomorrow on the 29th April 2016.

National Vetting Bureau (Children and Vulnerable Persons) Act 2012 is now scheduled to commence in the Spring of 2015 (delayed from Nov 2014). The purpose of this Act is to provide a legislative basis for the mandatory vetting of persons who wish to undertake certain work or activities relating to children or vulnerable persons or to provide certain services to children or vulnerable persons.
Garda Vetting is the process by which a Garda Vetting Application Form is submitted to An Garda Síochána Vetting Office asking them to check if a person has any convictions and/or prosecutions, successful or not, pending or completed, recorded against their name.
